A Canadian Commonwealth Sterling silver and enamel match safe.

The front has an enameled shield, decorated with a crown, a bulldog and a flag, inscribed with “WHAT WE HAVE WE’LL HOLD” under the shield, and “Toronto” on the hinged lid. 

On the reverse is an applied beaver and a maple leaf, with a match striker on the bottom. 

 

8 ounces (gross). 2 ½”H x 1 ½”W x .25”D

Condition:  Lid does not close completely, surface scratches and dents commensurate

with age.

 

Note: At the beginning of the 20thC, the beaver became the symbol of the Canadian Military Engineers.
