Sukhothai Period (1350-1400)
Cast with ‘snail shell’ tightly curled hair beneath a domed ushnisha rising to a flame shaped finial denoting enlightened consciousness. Demonstrating classic Northern Sukhothai facial features of an oval face effecting a serene & meditative expression, with arched eyebrows over heavily lidded & downward gazing eyes, together with a ‘beaked’ nose over recessed upturned lips.
Minor losses noted.
Mounted atop an associated & partially gilded metal base.
Height of head, 3”. Overall height 7.25”.
