The finely cast & sculpted parcel gilt bronze figure of a young woman, known as ‘La Vuelta Del Mercado’ (Return to the Market), showing her face & arms exquisitely modelled in ivory and mounted atop a circular plinth base with foundry marks for Edmond Etling et Cie., Paris, and numbered on the underside of the base in script 7168.
Height, 9.25”.
Very little is known of Dominique Alonzo other than he was born in Ile-de- France and studied with well-known French sculptor Alexandre Falguiere. He worked between 1910 – 1930 and is recorded as having exhibited sculptures in 1912 and 1926 at the famed Paris Salon (aka Salon des Society des Artistes Francais).
