A Fine Regency Period Davenport Desk in Figured Mahogany

The richly figured mahogany case showing a baluster-turned 3/4 gallery over a hinged leather topped writing compartment, opening to an interior fitted with small drawers with satinwood fronts & turned pulls.
The writing compartment with the added feature of enabling it to slide over the front of the base, allowing for greater ease & comfort when seated in front.
The base flanked on either side by twin draw-out bookrests, the right side featuring a small retractable drawer fitted for writing implements above four tiers of drawers with original functioning locks & key, the left side is similarly complimented by four tiers of false drawers.
The front of the case showing a richly figured mahogany panel sided by hand carved corbel capitals & fluted pilasters, raised overall on turned supports retaining their original brass cup castors.
Remnants of a BADA label affixed to one side.
Dimensions: 36” high x 19.75” wide x 21.5”deep
This is without question a superior example of a Regency period davenport desk, being of very fine timber, exacting proportions and exhibiting exceptional graining, colour & patina.
