A rare pair of George I Britannia silver (.958 fine) Hanoverian ‘Rat Tail’ tablespoons                            

Both hallmarked London with date letter for 1719, maker’s marks, the underside of both bowls showing a ‘rat tail’ heel.

Both Measuring 7.75” long, with a combined weight of 115.6 grams.                                                                                                

The Britannia Standard was put into effect in by an Act of British Parliament in 1697 and lasted until 1720 as part of the re-coining effort put into place by William III.
