An Exceptional Pair of Parcel Gilt Bronze Figural Candelabra

France

Circa 1900

Both finely sculpted Orientalist inspired figures showing robust Nubian figures holding aloft richly gilded candle nozzles, one pair with an applied gilded bronze figure of a parrot, the other with a monkey.

Both figures mounted atop squared & stepped platforms exhibiting a matte & burnished gilt surface, raised overall on stylized bamboo supports. One bobeche & one gilded terminal absent.

10 inches in height.

The quality of the modelling, casting & gilding is exceptional, with both exhibiting a superior untouched patina overall.

No apparent makers marks or foundry marks, but very much in the manner of French sculptor Emile Nestor Joseph Carlier (1849-1927).
