This antique miniature folk portrait, from the late 18th or early 19th century, shows an older woman in profile dressed in period attire including a frilled bonnet. The folk artist has captured the detail in her lace bonnet, her gathered dress and her facial features. The painting is on card and on the reverse, the label reads Old Anne Bisset. The elegant papier mache frame has a gilded inner frame and a convex glass to protect the image. The brass hanger is original and shows a six pointed star. The frame measures 5 x 5.5 inches without the hanger.
