METAL ART SCULPTURE BY MICHAEL HEWITT --
 
A magnificent 1974-dated custom-commissioned copper sculpture in the form of 6-foot tall cattails and lily pads by Michael Hewitt of Metalmorphosis.
Hewitt (1939-2012) was born in England but moved to Canada in 1952. His sculpture studio was based in Vancouver. This sculpture was custom-commissioned by a member of the wealthy Schwartz family of Sydney, Nova Scotia. It is comprised of cattails and fronds extending over 6' in height and spanning 30" in diameter, with copper art lily pads at the base.
